We’re pushing two new features to the Easy Restaurant Menu Manager plugin for WordPress.
First we’re giving the user control over whether the restaurant menu title gets displayed on the frontend. This was causing some confusion because the menus are usually outputted on a WordPress page that already has a title, which more often than not matches the restaurant menu title. This resulted in the restaurant menu title seemingly being displayed twice, which led some users to leave the menu title blank on the WordPress admin which caused further confusion when they tried to go back and edit the menu and there was no title to click on. Our initial solution was to have users hide the menu title with CSS, but now we have a much easier method.
Secondly, we are allowing WordPress users with the Editor capability to edit the menus. Originally only admins could edit restaurant menus on the WordPress backend but after a solid demand, we have loosened that restriction so that WordPress admins and WordPress editors can manage the restaurant menus.
Both these features are being pushed to the free plugin and extended plugin versions.

Hi,
I want to buy this plugin but first I want to make sure that I can create a weekly menu in my wordpress site using your plugin. It’s mean that I want to create a menu for each day of the week including the main dishes and the dessert for each day.
Thanks
Yes, the extended version allows you to setup as many menus as you want.
So you could have a menu, category, and item set for each day of the week.
A good upgrade! Here’s how you can take this further and sell more:
1. CSV Import & Export – so I can save my data. Would be useful when having two restaurant sites in a chain.
2. On the “Add Item” screen, after you save, you should be able to add another without going back via the bread crumbs. It will make operation faster.
3. Add a “fail-safe” option by asking the user before they delete a cat or item.
4. Show a list of products that you can select (tick) for mass deleting)
5. Allow us to copy items to duplicate items and place them in an entirely new category.
6. Have an option within WordPress so you can remove the word “Restaurant” as the product is perfect for hair salons and spas. You will triple sales. The name “Restaurant would could be confusing”.
7. Offer an unlimited license or 5 or 10 pack license offer
I LOVE THIS PRODUCT
Hey Ken,
Thanks for the suggestions and support!
I will put some of these on the dev list.
I’m currently using the Restaurant plugin on a site I have in the works – haven’t used it before. While it seems to be close to what I want, there is some styling needed and I find that the support or comments on that are VERY limited at the moment. It would be great to have a primer that outlines how to make the menu layout display appropriately. MOST websites have their own bullet styles already in place as a for instance, not to mention the positioning of the price and whatnot. If you look at the sample page on my test server you’ll see what I mean…there’s a lot of waste space, and thats before I even get to loading in images. While the hint to make your own stylesheet in the settings page for the plugin gives a bit of a hint as to what to do, it really doesn’t give a clear instruction. It would be awesome to have a couple of sample custom stylesheets to refer to because at the moment I’m just a bit lost and a lot frustrated.
I have items input, but they are not laying out nicely, and are eating up way too much space. I need a quick solution to this or else I’m going to have to toss using this plugin and take another route. Having said that, I’d much rather use the plugin and figure it out since I have more sites coming up on that I’d buy it for if I could just get a little basic control over the appearance.
Can someone please help me?
Hey Shayne,
The default stylesheet for the plugin will do a lot for you. Your plugin is not installed correctly and so the default stylesheet is 404:

You will need to make sure you get the plugin installed correctly before doing anything else. Read this carefully and make sure your plugin folder is named correctly:

A killer feature would be the ability to click each item to build an order and be able to submit it via email to the restaurant. Pay options would be Pre-Order (dine-in), Pick-up or Delivery. No payment gateway. The email will have enough info for the restaurant to call customer and confirm order.
Hey Robert T,
That’s a great idea, I’ll put it on the dev list
How about internationalisation of the plugin? As far as I can tell there are no GETTEXT calls in the plugin… Is internationalisation anywhere on the todo-list and if so, when can we expect this?
Hey Piet,
I have this on the dev list. We work on plugins in between client projects so there is no release date for this feature.
